Organisation members

Create and manage the members of your Enterprise organisation from your own systems, and open their accounts with a sign-in token.

On Enterprise, your organisation's members can be managed from your own systems, such as an HR tool or a customer portal.

Seats#

Each member uses a seat of your subscription. Create a member takes a seat as an invitation does. When every seat is taken:

  • with automatic seats on (Settings in the app), a seat is added and charged first, and the member is created once that payment goes through (402 enterprise_seat_payment_failed if it does not);
  • otherwise the request answers 409 enterprise_add_users_limit.

Roles#

A new member gets your organisation's default role. Change it with Update a member:

Your own data on a member#

metadata holds anything you want to keep with a member, such as their ID in your CRM. Set it with Update a member; it comes back with the member in List members and Get a member. Each update replaces it whole.

Their projects#

A key reaches its own account's projects and those of every member:

Open a member's account#

Sign in as a member gives a one-time sign-in token. Add it to an app address as sit to open the app signed in as that member:

The token opens the member's whole account, so:

  • the key must have been created with Members: write chosen;
  • it must be a live key;
  • it is never given for your own account, an Admin or a Manager;
  • use the token within an hour, and only in the browser of the person who will use the account.

Removing a member#

Delete a member deletes their account: they can no longer sign in, they are told by email, and their data is erased after a short grace period. If your organisation requires projects to be transferred before an account is deleted, transfer them in the app first; the API answers 409 enterprise_transfer_required until then.

Members joining by single sign-on#

Members who join through your organisation's single sign-on take a seat the same way. Each new seat, however it was filled, sends the enterprise.user.created webhook.
